Children can run.

We can walk, explore, play and get our feet wet.
And instead of spending an hour trying to make everyone sit still, we can let the beach become part of your family's story.
Auckland Beaches Give Us So Much Variety
One of the reasons I love photographing families around Auckland is the variety of landscapes.
We can photograph on wide sandy beaches, among rocks, beside the water or against dramatic coastal landscapes.
Every beach has its own personality.
And we can choose the location based on your family rather than simply choosing the most popular photography spot.
What Should We Bring?
Keep it simple.
Bring:
yourselves
comfortable clothing
water
anything your children genuinely need
a towel or change of clothes if you're likely to get wet
You don't need to bring a suitcase full of props.
Your family is enough.
What If the Kids Want to Play?
Let them.
If your child wants to collect shells, run through the sand or investigate something interesting, that's okay.
I'll photograph it.
Those moments tell a much bigger story than a perfectly posed photograph.
What If Someone Is Camera Shy?
This is completely normal.
You don't have to be comfortable in front of a camera before your session.
Part of my job is creating an environment where you can relax.
I'll give you enough direction to feel confident without making everything feel staged.
Often, once people stop thinking about the camera, the most beautiful photographs happen.
Beach Sessions and Wind
Auckland beaches can be windy.
And that's okay.
Wind can create movement in dresses, hair and the landscape. It can add energy and atmosphere to photographs.
We work with the environment rather than trying to control every little thing.
What I Want You to Remember
When you look back at your photographs years from now, I don't want you to remember:
"We spent an hour trying to pose correctly."
I want you to remember:
"That was us."
The way your children laughed.
The way they held your hand.
The feeling of being together.
The wind.
The sand.
The afternoon light.
That is what family photography is really about.
